Kevin Koelbl

Biography

Kevin Koelbl (it's not as hard as it looks.....it's pronounced "cable") has had a long and varied career in music. After obtaining his degree in Vocal Performance in his home state of Wisconsin, Kevin got his start in musicals at regional theatres across the country, playing leading roles in shows such as Carnival, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Fantasticks, A Little Night Music, Beauty and the Beast (first live stage Gaston), Oklahoma, Anything Goes and ShowBoat with Van Johnson.

Kevin has headlined in Musical Revues at Tokyo Disneyland, Huis Ten Bosch, and aboard Royal Viking and Princess Cruise Lines. His love of the musical theatre songbook became the genesis of his own solo cabaret, which he has performed to packed theatres and enthusiastic audiences aboard both the Royal Viking and Princess Cruise Lines, as well as sold-out venues such as the Rose Tattoo, the Gardenia Room, Debbie Reynold‘s Hotel & Casino, the famed Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel’s Cinegrill, and long-term engagements in Switzerland and Japan.

When Michael Crawford left his headlining role in the world’s most expensive stage show, EFX at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand, Kevin stepped into Mr. Crawford’s role and received critical acclaim; “Koelbl’s deep voice and dark features add a haunting quality to the show.” Showbiz.

In addition to cast recordings of EFX and Lady Be Good, Kevin released his first solo CD, Somewhere In Time in the fall of 2001. “The intriguing selection of songs takes you on the kind of journey that both flatters the soloist and makes listening a pleasure…” Ted Chapin, President of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization. Somewhere In Time was pre-nominated for a Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal for the 44th Annual Awards alongside such greats as Tony Bennett and Harry Connick Jr.

Kevin’s long awaited follow-up to Somewhere In Time is a collection of Christmas classics re-imagined with a contemporary twist – including duets with Heidi Godt (direct from the Broadway cast of Mama Mia) and Tami Tappan Damiano (star of Miss Saigon). Kevin is also excited to be working with Grammy nominated musicians Wayne Bergeron, and Ray Brinker and Trey Henry from the Tierney Sutton Band.
